Amy Artmann has been in practice as a certified nurse-midwife (CNM) since 2000. She earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Colby College in Maine and a master's degree in nursing from Yale University. Artmann joined University of Colorado College of Nursing (CON) Faculty Practices in 2003. As CON faculty, she has provided clinical care to women and families through University Nurse Midwives, the Center for Midwifery, Denver area correction facilities, the Broomfield Department of Public Health, and the Anschutz Campus Health Center. Prior to joining CON she worked as a CNM for the Pine Ridge Indian Health Service in South Dakota.
Besides being engaged in clinical practice, Artmann is a preceptor and has taught graduate courses at CON. She is active in adult and professional learning, working on the development, implementation, and coordination of a nurse-residency program for a statewide maternal-child public health nursing agency. She also works with the CON Global Health Committee to help establish and maintain culturally aware learning experiences for students both in the U.S. and abroad. Artmann acts as a mentor and teacher to advanced practice nurses learning new skills such as contraceptive device techniques and ultrasound training.
Her interests include public health, pregnancy, gynecologic care, transgender health, and contraceptive access. Additional skills include ultrasound and Spanish language.
