Being an Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AG-PCNP) encompasses collaboratively working with adults of all ages including older and disabled adults to maximize their health and promote healthy behaviors. Our program is structured to not only transform you into an advanced practice nurse prepared to deliver high-quality care, lead, and enact change but also help to transform lives regionally, nationally, and globally.

Our program instills a foundation of knowledge that will prepare you to work in a variety of diverse settings that align with your career interests. From primary care to national health agencies to home care delivered at the doorstep of the patient to address the rural health needs of Colorado and beyond, you decide the career path that you want to follow. We will provide you with experiences and education to accelerate your journey.

The AGPCNP program is structured to provide the student with:

  • A supportive team of experienced faculty who are vested in the success of the student.
  • Opportunities to engage in experiential experiences based on the students care interests and career path.
  • Innovative and progressive programming to prepare you for current and future advanced practice healthcare requisites.
  • An interprofessional collaborative environment of learning to support and strengthen role transitioning.

Graduates of this specialty track are eligible to apply for national certification by examination. You will learn more about the certification organizations appropriate for this specialty during the completion of your program. Upon successful completion of the certification examination, Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioners are eligible for licensure in all 50 states, including Colorado (visit the Colorado Board of Nursing APRN application forms page), where licensure is granted as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) and is required for practice.
