A Bachelor of Science degree in nursing provides a variety of career choices. Upon successful completion of the BS nursing program and the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX), baccalaureate-prepared nurses are able to choose from a wide variety of practice settings. Additionally, unlike graduates prepared with an associate degree in nursing, baccalaureate-prepared nurses are able to pursue advanced degrees in nursing, including programs that prepare them for careers as adult or pediatric nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, nurse midwives or certified nurse anesthetists. Doctorate level education is also possible for baccalaureate-prepared nurses who wish to pursue a PhD or DNP (doctorate in nursing practice).

The RN to BS in Nursing Pathway is available to registered nurses who desire career mobility and professional development, based on the Colorado Nursing Articulation Model. As long as you are a registered nurse, you can participate in the program.

No. As long as you are a registered nurse, you can participate in the program.

The program consists of 30 credits. It is designed to efficiently be completed in four semesters, or 16 months.

A total of at least 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of approved, transferable non-nursing prerequisite course work is required. All of the listed prerequisites are required. More prerequisite information can be on the RN to BS in Nursing Admissions page.

Yes. You will be able to transfer prerequisite credit as long as it meets specified requirements. View a sample of acceptable transfer courses from Colorado institutions. University of Colorado will accept credit if:

• It has been earned at a regionally accredited college or university.
• A grade of C (not C-) or better has been attained.
• It is not vocational-technical course work.
• It is not remedial course work.

Yes. The University of Colorado College of Nursing RN to BS in Nursing Pathway is completely online, allowing you to seek your BS degree, balance your life and work at the same time.
