Welcome to the Training Portal for the Colorado Unified Command Medical Reserve Corps Volunteers and for Colorado’s nursing students from programs across the state. Since March 24th, faculty from the University of Colorado College of Nursing have collaborated with public health planning leaders on the state COVID response, specifically with the “surge” workforce and training needs. The learning materials on this page are a result of that partnership and evidence of the value of upstream education for the many healthcare workers who may be called into action to serve the emergency effort caring for non-hospitalized, acute patients.
These materials were conceived as “quick training” to supplement knowledge that most medical staff and volunteers will already possess when recruited to serve in the Alternate Care Facilities (ACFs). Each video was recorded with less than 10 minutes of information; each module to be completed in less than 30 minutes. Of course, learners are encouraged to seek additional learning content to best prepare them for working in ACFs. Many, many materials are available freely on the internet by reputable sources.
Please contact Dr. Scott Harpin (scott.harpin@cuanschutz.edu) if you have any questions or comments about this material. Dr. Harpin would like to thank his colleagues, especially Drs. Laura Rosenthal and Tammy Spencer for their contributions of COVID nursing care; CU Webmaster Susan Baggett for her expertise and timeliness on creating these website spaces; and students: Haley Hamilton, Megan Meyer, Rachel Heyne, and Stephany Lipscomb for their creative expertise and help pulling materials together quickly.
