Dr. Krista Estes, DNP, FNP-C is a clinical teaching track associate professor and the Family Nurse Practitioner Specialty Director at the CU College of Nursing. Originally from Kansas City, Dr. Estes received her bachelor of science in kinesiology from Kansas State University. She then received her bachelor of science in nursing, master of science in nursing (Family Nurse Practitioner) and her doctor of nursing practice degrees from the University of Kansas. Prior to moving to Colorado, she worked as a family nurse practitioner in the Emergency Department at St. Joseph, St. Mary's and Shawnee Mission Medical Centers in Kansas City. Since relocating to Colorado, Dr. Estes continues to work as a family nurse practitioner at Kaiser Urgent Care. In addition to national certification as a family nurse practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, she is a Certified Registered Medical Examiner on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners. Dr. Estes is recognized as an Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner, with full prescriptive authority, by the state of Colorado.
