As a graduate of the University of Colorado College of Nursing, you automatically become a member of the CU College of Nursing Alumni Association upon your graduation. Each year, the Alumni Association Board of Directors honors outstanding alumni at an awards ceremony to recognize exemplary members of our community, raises funds for first year student stethoscopes, and creates mentorship opportunities between students and alumni.
Getting involved is easy! Volunteer Opportunities include mentoring students, precepting students in the clinical environment, admission and scholarship application reviewing, and hosting reunions and events.
"I enjoy connecting with someone new to nursing and providing insight as they try to find their career path."

"My favorite part about the mentoring experience is that I have the opportunity to connect with a nursing student in the same program I graduated. I am a huge advocate for nurses nurturing one another. My biggest take away is that, in my experience with the student that has been assigned to me, nursing students are involved in making connections with alumni and can greatly benefit from this program. Not to mention that is also helps, me, the alumna, in building and growing in my professionalism as a nurse."

"I'm have always enjoyed precepting nursing students and new hires, so mentoring is another good opportunity. Also, my mentee has been very receptive to the process and has asked a lot of questions. She is always very grateful which I appreciate. My biggest takeaway is that spending a little bit of time sending emails back and forth can make a big difference in the future of a new nurse."
