Katy Kissler, PhD, CNM is a nurse-midwife scientist at the University of Colorado College of Nursing. She earned a bachelor's degree in Public Health from the University of California at Berkeley, a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Nursing from Columbia University, and a PhD in nursing science from the University of Colorado. She joined the College of Nursing in 2021 and teaches statistics and quantitative research design. Dr. Kissler’s research interests include labor progress, prolonged labor, and physiologic birth from a person-centered care perspective.
Prior to joining the College of Nursing, Dr. Kissler provided family-centered midwifery care in numerous settings including home birth, birth center, and non-profit hospitals. She has been practicing clinically since 2011 and was a founding member of the Birth Center of Denver, an innovative hospital-owned free-standing birth center.
