Catherine Jankowski PhD

Catherine (Kathy) Jankowski is an exercise physiologist who joined the faculty in 2012 after ten years of clinical research experience in the Division of Geriatric Medicine at the CU School of Medicine. The unifying theme of Jankowski’s research is the maintenance and promotion of physical function during aging, cancer survivorship and chronic disease. For example, she implements exercise and sex hormone interventions to study human musculoskeletal adaptations to overload and disuse. She has been the recipient of extramural funding from the National Institutes of Health and Centers for Disease Control in addition to intramural funding. Dr. Jankowski collaborates with faculty in Geriatric Medicine, Infectious Disease, Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Physical Therapy, Public Health, and with CU Nursing. She is a fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and is an ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Specialist. She is an Associate Editor of the Yearbook of Sports Medicine and serves on the Exercise and Rehabilitation Advisory Council of the National Osteoporosis Foundation. Jankowski speaks to community groups about exercise for older adults and exercise during cancer survivorship.
