Thomas Checkley is an Assistant Teaching Professor and UCAN Coordinator at the University of Colorado Anschutz Campus and a practicing family nurse practitioner at Children’s Hospital Colorado. His career spans nursing education, primary and urgent care, emergency and cardiovascular nursing, and academic program development, with a particular focus on connecting rigorous classroom learning with real-world clinical practice. Drawing on a multidisciplinary academic background that includes advanced degrees in nursing as well as cognition and neuroscience, Dr. Checkley brings an interdisciplinary perspective to healthcare education and clinical practice. His scholarly interests include innovative approaches to nursing education, generative artificial intelligence, quality improvement, and strategies that improve student learning and patient outcomes.
