Andres Escobar, LSW is faculty at the University of Colorado Anschutz College of Nursing’s clinical practice site, CU-Sheridan Health Services (SHS), serving as a Bilingual behavioral health provider. In this role, Andres offers brief, integrated individual counseling for individuals across the lifespan, prioritizing evidence-based, culturally responsive treatment and trauma-informed care. He specializes in providing high-quality support to Latino children, adults, and families in their primary language.

Andres holds two bachelor’s degrees in psychology and social work from Warren Wilson College and earned his Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he balanced rigorous clinical training with community-centered research. Notably, he was selected for the competitive HRSA PRIME Care for Youth traineeship, which advanced his expertise in addressing complex behavioral health needs in adolescents and young adults. Additionally, he served as a research assistant with the UNC School of Social Work on the Whole Together Robeson project, an initiative dedicated to advancing maternal mental health equity and wellbeing.

Committed to continuous clinical growth, Andres was recently awarded a scholarship to the specialized Playducto training initiative through Regis University’s nationally approved Center for Play Therapy Education. He actively weaves multicultural play therapy into his clinical approach, fueled by a core passion for child and adolescent mental health, navigating the unique intersections of immigration and trauma, and cultivating safe, expressive healing spaces for young people.
