Before higher education, Alan spent 20 years in the U.S. Army and over a decade as a public school educator.
Away from work, he’s happiest outdoors, whether hiking a mountain trail, standing in a Colorado stream with a fly rod, skiing on a snowy day, or heading into the backcountry in his Jeep with an off-road camper in tow.
He’s rarely far from Scout, his three-legged yellow Labrador Retriever, constant companion, and enthusiastic fetch partner, who makes frequent appearances on campus.
