Kristi was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, and attended Nebraska Wesleyan University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in communication studies. She credits the kind and supportive faculty and staff there for encouraging her to consider a career in higher education (ask her about how higher education – it’s a good story that ends with an 18-year-old Kristi crying and saying, ‘please don’t call my mom’).

Kristi’s career took her to different parts of the US, including North Carolina, Texas, and Las Vegas, where she earned a master’s degree from UNLV.

Kristi is also a dog mom to a fabulous doodle mix named Mr. Furley. She enjoys spending with family and friends, listening to the Hamilton soundtrack, waiting for the next Marvel movie, crafting, traveling, and extending her Wordle streak.

Laura, also known as Babbs, was born and raised in Denver. Growing up, she was obsessed with the American Girl historical books, fairies, pink, her scooter, and worms. Babbs is a proud alumna of CU Denver (go Lynx!) and started her career in higher education through a work-study job in CU Denver’s Undergraduate Admissions Office.

You might see Babbs walking around campus in thrifted clothes (and working on adopting the coastal grandmother aesthetic) with an iced oak milk vanilla latte and listening to her favorite band, The 1975. Babbs is a huge fan of Matty Healy and Kate Middleton and is a Capricorn sun and Gemini rising. Her dream job is owning a bookstore/coffee shop in a college town.

Madison is passionate about creating a culture of belonging at CU Nursing and understands the key factors that contribute to a positive student experience on campus.

Outside of work, you’ll find Madison spending time with family and friends, traveling, entertaining her crazy cat Winnie, listening to podcasts, watching reality TV (Love is Blind, anyone?), and catching up on her reading list. She also enjoys exploring the mountains, perusing farmer’s markets, and checking out local restaurants and businesses. She also has a hidden talent for creating well-curated Spotify playlists.

Claire isn’t a morning person (you’ll never see her pre-coffee) – but she gets up early because her passion is supporting students through academic and personal challenges. She also believes there is no such thing as a dumb question, so ask her anything and everything!

When she’s not at work, you’ll find Claire spending time with her family (including fist-bumping her nephew over FaceTime) and friends. She also enjoys anything arts-related, hiking (she’s still adjusting to the altitude!), cheering on the New Orleans Saints, kickboxing, reading, cooking, and eating. She’ll also tell you what bird just flew by, even though you didn’t ask.

Mark’s journey has been intricately woven with healthcare, adventure, and education. His father was an independent pharmacist for more than forty years and grew up with two older siblings in Minocqua, a small town in the Northwoods of Wisconsin.

Mark understands that education is a lifelong endeavor as his mother returned to school in her 50s to earn her bachelor’s degree and his partner is a student in Anschutz’s genetic counseling graduate program.

He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in mechanical engineering and a certificate in technical communication. Mark has spent more than twenty years managing internship and cooperative education programs, facilitating strengths-based leadership programs, and advising and mentoring college students.

Mark is proud to serve as a Board of Director of the Shanta Foundation, an international nonprofit focused on eradicating extreme poverty through the creation of education, quality healthcare, and economic opportunities in rural communities throughout Myanmar and Zambia. He is also a facilitator for LeaderShape and has facilitated experiential leadership programs for students around the US and Canada.

Feel free to ask Mark what the tallest waterfall is that he has paddled in his whitewater kayak – he’ll show you the picture, too!

Sandra has over 15 years of experience working in higher education and worked at the University of California, Riverside prior to joining CU Nursing.

Her family, friends, and advisors encouraged her to pursue a career in education (there are three teachers in her family) or healthcare, specifically nursing. After taking education management courses and a short tenure training to become a Limited-Scope X-Ray Technician/Medical Assistant, Sandra quickly discovered that she loved to help others and found a role that allows her to support someone’s journey into healthcare and nursing.

Sandra is passionate about serving and supporting students before, during, and after the admissions process. She also loves all things related to data management.

When she is not at work, Sandra loves a good comedy or action movie, tries to keep up with at least 10 different shows at any given time, enjoys drawing, playing guitar (although not very good), cooking and baking, watching sports (GEAUX SAINTS!), throwing down at karaoke (Eye of the Tiger is her go-to song), fishing, and spending time with her husband and fur baby, Bella.
