Good news! The University of Colorado Anschutz College of Nursing is part of SARA (State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement). This means we can offer our online classes to students in many different states.
SARA is a nationwide agreement and is overseen by the National Council of State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA). Each state has different professional licensing requirements, and our programs may not fulfill the licensing requirements in all states.
Contact your state board of nursing for specific requirements. If you’re not sure our program fulfills the licensing requirements in your state, contact our Admissions team to check your state's requirements before enrolling.
While SARA opens many doors, there are a few things to keep in mind:
Because of these state-by-state differences, we may not be able to accept students from every state for every program.
As part of the application process, all students must acknowledge their understanding of our licensure requirements. For distance learning programs, students must complete an attestation form confirming they will seek licensure in an eligible state. Students planning to pursue licensure in non-eligible ("does not meet") states cannot be admitted to distance learning programs. Students applying to on-campus programs must complete a disclosure form acknowledging that our program may not fulfill requirements for out-of-state licensure. All programs are designed to meet the requirements for licensure in Colorado.
