JoAnn G. Crownover, DNP, RN, CNE joined the College of Nursing faculty in July, 2018. Dr. Crownover earned her Bachelor of Nursing Degree (BSN) at Loretto Heights College, her Masters of Science Degree in Nursing (MSN) from Northern Arizona University and her Doctorate of Nursing Practice Degree (DNP) from Regis University. As an Assistant Professor with the College of Nursing, she teaches primarily Undergraduate nursing students in Medical Surgical focused courses. Dr. Crownover has taught at various other Academic Settings since 1993, including rural Associate Degree Programs, and State and Private Universities. Dr. Crownover served in the USAF Nurse Corps following graduation. She has gained nursing experience in a variety of specialty areas, including Medical Surgical, Obstetrical, Hospice, School Health, Emergency Room and Diabetic Education.
Dr Crownover’s specific interest in education is in innovative instructional pedagogy. She has extensive experience in the development and implementation of Nursing Simulation. She was selected as one of the 20 nurse educators from across the United States to be involved with the Inaugural National League for Nursing’s (NLN) Leadership Development Program for Simulation Educators. Since 2011, Dr. Crownover has been working with Dr. Kerry Reid-Searl from CQ University, Australia, in the implementation of Mask-Ed™ Simulation. JoAnn is the pioneer for Mask-Ed Simulation in the United States.
