Mustafa Ozkaynak joined the faculty of the University of Colorado College of Nursing in 2013. Previously, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. During his postdoc, he was part of a research team that studied the structural quality of anticoagulation management. He earned his MS and PhD in Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His dissertation was entitled “Characterizing Workflow in Hospital Emergency Departments.” As a PhD student, he received a Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) PhD scholarship.
His research interests include workflow in clinical and non-clinical health settings and the organizational and social consequences of health information technologies. His recent interest is in:His research has been supported by Agency for Healthcare Research and Safety (AHRQ), National Institute of Health (NIH) and Center for Disease Control (CDC). He is a fellow of Health Information Management Systems Society.
