  • Great News for our CU Nursing Students and Alums. Governor Polis Clears Way for Students

    With the help of University of Colorado leadership, CU Nursing faculty, lobbyists, and State Representatives and Senators, Governor Jared Polis signed Executive Order D 2020 038 on April 15, 2020 to temporarily suspend State Board of Nursing statutes in order to expand the health care workforce. The Order temporarily suspends some State Board of Nursing rules for nursing programs. This allows our students to complete their programs in a timely fashion to help fight the Covid-19 outbreak, and also addresses the current nursing workforce needs in the state of Colorado.

    Nurse’s Action Gets Results

    When CU Nursing PhD student Brittni Goodwin realized there weren’t enough N95 masks for her colleagues at area hospitals, she went to work to get the needed supplies. She contacted Home Depot with an email plea to reserve masks for health care workers and her efforts paid off! CU Anschutz received a donation of 10,000 N-95 masks April 6.

  • Number of People Entering Local Addiction Recovery Program Doubles Amid Coronavirus Pandemic

    An addiction recovery pilot program sees an increase of patients during Covid-19 outbreak. Funded through SB19-001, the program delivers medication assisted treatment to those affected by the opioid crisis. In the program, CU Nursing faculty train local NPs and PAs to deliver treatment in Pueblo and Routt counties. Read about the program and uptick in cases seeking assistance.
