CU Nursing participates with the NursingCAS application service.

 Before starting any application, be sure to read through the program information and admission requirements.

Yes, professional/academic references are required for the Traditional, Integrated Nursing, UCAN, CU Denver/CU Nursing Bridge, and CU Nursing at Fort Lewis College pathways as well as Graduate Programs (MS, BS-DNP, Post-Graduate Certificate, DNP, and PhD. Note that personal/character references are not applicable.

Yes. Selected applicants will be invited to complete the interview process for the Traditional, Integrated Nursing, UCAN, CU Denver/CU Nursing Bridge, and CU Nursing at Fort Lewis College pathways as well as Graduate Programs (MS, BS-DNP, Post-Graduate Certificate, DNP, and PhD. The applicant portal in NursingCAS provides updates as transcripts and letters of recommendation are received.

Yes, attendance at all institutions (regardless of years attended or coursework completed) must be listed in your application. This includes any concurrent/dual enrollment courses you took in high school; you must submit official transcripts for any post-secondary school(s) from which you earned college credit while in high school.

In addition, transcripts for all foreign (non-study abroad) coursework must be submitted directly to the University of Colorado College of Nursing for evaluation through the Office of International Affairs. Transcripts for study abroad coursework from a non-U.S. institution may be required depending on how foreign coursework is posted on the domestic (receiving institution) transcript. If all course information (course title, credits hours, and grades) is posted to the domestic transcript, applicants do not need to submit a separate transcript from the study abroad institution. If any course information is incomplete, or the grades are posed as Pass/Fail, a transcript for the study abroad coursework will need to be submitted directly to the University of Colorado College of Nursing Office of Admissions & Student Affairs.

All official transcripts must be sent directly to NursingCAS with the exception of foreign/study abroad transcripts as noted above. Transcripts uploaded by applicants and transcripts sent to CU Nursing will not be accepted.

We highly recommend sending official transcripts electronically to NursingCAS (via National Student Clearinghouse, Parchment, or Credential Solutions). However, if you must send it by mail, the mailing address for NursingCAS can be found in their help center.

When requesting official electronic transcripts, please select the recipient as follows:

Do not select the University of Colorado College of Nursing, Anschutz Medical Campus, or University of Colorado Denver, Anschutz Medical Campus as the recipient.

Applications must be submitted (i.e., in a Received status) by the application deadline, but do not have to be in Verified status. After the application deadline, there is a consecutive 10-day grace period which allows for: all references to reach a Completed Status, all official transcripts to be received and processed by NursingCAS, and the application to reach Verified Status. After this grace period, applications not in a Verified status and/or without these required supporting documents will not move forward in the application process. Please note that the application process often takes several weeks (including entering courses into NursingCAS, receiving recommenders' ratings, and ordering all official transcripts [domestic and foreign]), therefore applicants should allow themselves ample time to complete each section. We recommend applicants submit their applications 4 to 6 weeks before the application deadline. For details on deadlines, refer to undergraduate application deadlines.

Unfortunately, no. We are unable to re-open the application once the deadline has passed. Please look at Admission Deadlines (Undergrad / Graduate) for future admissions cycles.

You must re-apply to the semester you intend to start. You can use the re-application feature in NursingCAS to move your application to a future semester.

Note that not all information is transferred in the re-application feature. Information such as coursework, official test scores, attached transcripts, etc., can be copied into the new application.  Letters of reference, essays, payments, and program-specific information cannot be copied into the new application.

Yes, all transcripts are required. If you received a degree from outside the US, please provide your transcripts to the appropriate advisor to submit your transcript for evaluation by the Student International Office.

Yes, the TOEFL or IETLS is required for all international student/students who identify their primary language is not English. Students must meet CU Nursing language proficiency requirements. If a student has completed a degree from a US college or university or a primary English speaking nation, the student would be exempt from the language requirement. Please check with the appropriate advisor about what countries qualify for this exemption.

The Traditional (TRAD), Integrated Nursing (INP), Accelerated (UCAN), CU Denver/CU Nursing Bridge, and CU Nursing at Fort Lewis College pathways lead to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Please check the specific requirements for each pathway.

Attend a Prospective Student Event. Info sessions typically include:

• An overview of the program(s)
• A walk-through of the application and admissions process
• Admission criteria, prerequisite requirements, and application timelines
• Question and answer session

Several factors are considered during the holistic admissions review process. These include (but are not limited to):

• Prerequisite GPA (minimum 3.0 required)
• Cumulative GPA (based on all previous course attempts)
• Essay
• Recommendations
• Interview
• Healthcare experience (for UCAN only)

If your school is not listed under the transfer guides, or you have taken a course not included in our transfer guides, please review prerequisite content expectations, and contact an undergraduate academic advisor through con.undergradevals@cuanschutz.edu.

Yes, online courses are acceptable provided they meet prerequisite content expectations and are completed through a regionally accredited institution.

Send a copy of your transcripts to con.undergradevals@cuanschutz.edu. In the email, specify the undergraduate program(s) for which you plan to apply.

Students who plan to move to Colorado and are not able to move must consult the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA) and SBON about their home state. The College of Nursing does have limitations to teach in due to SARA and SBON policies.

Students who move to Colorado after they are admitted are responsible for finding your own clinical placements with the guidance of the Specialty Director.

Yes, official CU transcript must be submitted as a part of your application.

For all students applying through NursingCAS - all official transcript must be sent directly to NursingCAS. Transcripts uploaded by applicants and transcripts sent to the CU College of Nursing will not be accepted.

We highly recommend sending transcripts electronically via the Clearinghouse, however, if you must send by mail, the mailing address for NursingCAS can be found in the help with transcripts center.

For graduate students who are waitlisted, you will receive a waitlist letter. Rank on the waitlist will not be provided. Timeline as to when applicant will be notified if a position in the program becomes available will be provided in the letter.

For applicants whose undergraduate nursing degree GPA is less than 3.0, the GRE and/or (12) credits of graduate-level coursework are required. The official GRE score and/or graduate coursework must be completed prior to the application deadline.

Students wishing to take courses before they are admitted to our program may apply to take them as a Non-Degree student. Students may take NURS 6109 Evidence Based Practice, NURS 6009 Foundations of Nursing Theory, NURS 6286 Foundations of Health Care Informatics, and NURS 6070 Policy and Politics. These courses are available on a space available only basis, no financial aid is available, and taking these courses prior to admission is not a guarantee of admission.

Yes, select graduate courses are available to be taken through CU Nursing’s non-degree enrollment option. Through this option students are enrolled, but not admitted to CU Nursing. Learn more by viewing the non-degree page which will walk you through the process and available courses by term.
