Emily Cheshire was the previous Medical Director for Sheridan Health Services through the conversion to a Federally Qualified Community Health Center. Since becoming an FNP in 2009, she has worked as the Healthcare Director providing services to asylum seekers in the Denver area, as Vice President of Operations for MedNOW staffing, a consultant for CPEP and the Colorado Center for Immigrants and Immigration Services. Emily owns a small business helping people with newly diagnosed and complex medical issues navigate the healthcare system to improve outcomes and reach desired health goals.

Emily has a passion for providing healthcare to underserved populations and has worked as a nurse in Costa Rica, Uganda and Tanzania. Her published doctoral work focused on cardiovascular risk assessment among persons living with HIV/AIDs. She has worked with populations and published an article that applied nursing theory to the care of women who have undergone female genital mutilation. She enjoys speaking on practice transformation, quality improvement and developing relationships across the healthcare spectrum the minimize healthcare disparities.
