Dr. Wang joins the University of Colorado College of Nursing in August 2022. She is a board-certified Clinical Nurse Specialist and began her nursing career as a Registered Nurse in the Cardiovascular Surgery Intensive Care Unit at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan. Her practice interests include cardiology and neurology. With nearly 25 years of experience in academia, Dr. Wang has held leadership positions in program administration, clinical practicum, and career planning.
Dr. Wang as a Taiwanese native believes in the importance of cross-cultural partnerships to improve the nursing profession, and has devoted substantial efforts to demonstrate how the American nursing community can collaborate with other countries’ nursing programs for the betterment of the entire nursing profession and global healthcare. She was the Visiting Scholar at National Taiwan University and other academic institutions in Taiwan, spearheading collaborative initiatives in scientific research and education. Her leadership in nursing education and oncology is disseminated through her sustained publications in numerous journals, including Journal of Pain and Symptom Management, Seminars in Oncology Nursing, and Nurse Educator. Focal research areas include: oncological and palliative care, pain, sleep, and other symptom-related distress, symptom clusters in cancer patients, and the relationship to quality-of-care outcomes in adults with cancer, specifically those with analgesic use and sleep disturbances. Her research interests also extend to technological improvements in instructional design and educational tools for improving students’ reading abilities and inter/intra-disciplinary engagement.
Dr. Wang grew up in Taiwan and completed her dual Master of Science in nursing education and Clinical Nurse Specialist at the University of Akron before pursuing her Ph.D. at Taipei Medical University. She speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese, Taiwanese, and English. She is actively involved in both her community and profession at local, national, and international levels. She often says, “A good nurse remembers that, for each patient, he or she may be one of your 100 patients, but you are his or her one and only nurse”. She is a tireless servant-leader, and colleagues and students report that her enthusiasm and passion for nursing is contagious.
