I am Jeanne Burnkrant, Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado College of Nursing. I am a primary care AGNP and a CU Nursing graduate. I have a lot of enthusiasm for my roles as a provider and educator and enjoy making both as fun as possible. I use a lot of humor, which seems to help, especially when the work we do can be quite macabre at times.

In many ways, geriatrics is a lot like pediatrics, but it’s flipped. Instead of talking to the parents of a child who can’t articulate their needs, you’re talking to the children of parents who can’t articulate their needs. Advocacy and speaking on behalf of a family member is an integral part of being an AGNP provider.

My areas of expertise lie in end-of-life care and working with the various types of dementias. With backgrounds in hospice and ICU and more recently, homebound medicine, I have been blessed with a solid foundation for bringing my knowledge and skills to both academia and practice. Staying clinically immersed and actively practicing helps me remain current while teaching.
