The University of Colorado College of Nursing Palliative Care Certificate program has been educating advanced practice nurses and generalist nurses to increase their knowledge, practice and evidence-base in palliative care since 2005. The essence of palliative care is a focus on holistic care within an interdisciplinary model to provide appropriate symptom management to improve quality of life in individuals having a chronic and/or life-threatening illness. The CU College of Nursing Palliative Care curriculum:

  • Includes three graduate courses offering advanced concepts in palliative care, complex symptom management, and leadership/business for palliative care programming
  • Prepares you to meet the needs of your patients and their families who are dealing with chronic illnesses
  • Helps you provide a voice for your patients
  • Provides a theory review for the Advanced Certified Hospice & Palliative Nurse (ACHPN) Certification Exam
  • Introduces a caring science framework into the practice of palliative care
  • Promotes change in the clinical climate toward palliative care
