Amanda Alba CNM, WHNP-BC, MS

From a young age, Amanda took interest in the childbearing stories of her mother and grandmothers, and in their experiences navigating the medical system. Her first job in healthcare was as an Emergency Department scribe, witnessing a wide range of people seeking care in their most vulnerable moments. There she developed a strong intuition to find a place in healthcare where she could collaborate with patients over time and be attentive to their hopes, fears, and expectations. Eventually, she found that culture abundantly present in midwifery and earned both her Bachelor and Master of Science degrees at Columbia University School of Nursing. Amanda then worked first in New York City hospitals, followed by six years at a freestanding birth center in coastal Massachusetts. She joined CU and the Center for Midwifery in 2021.
