Dr. Ritchie graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from West Virginia University in 2008. From 2009 to 2018 she worked as a nurse in the pre-operative and post-anesthesia units, and at two Level I trauma centers in their ICUs.
After obtaining her Master of Science in Nursing in the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program in 2018, she started her career in community mental health at Jefferson Center where she continues to work. Britt completed her doctorate project “Mindful Awareness Practices (MAPs) for Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)”, which was a program evaluation of an eight-week group-based intervention. Symptoms of ADHD were monitored by an evidence-based clinical assessment tool at the time of referral, sessions one, five and eight in order to assess for the goal of a 20% reduction in symptoms. This project aligns with her professional passion to deliver evidence-based personalized care to help people improve their quality of life.
Notable professional achievements include completing this program and pulling off a group-based intervention during the COVID-19 pandemic while working full-time from home with two young boys. Post doctorate Britt would like to become involved in healthcare policy at both the state and national level.
