Josi is a Colorado native who took an indirect route to midwifery. She completed her BA in English Literature at Regis University in 2005, MA in English Literature in 2008 at CU Boulder, and began PhD work in English at The University of Texas in 2008. While there and through her scholarship in women and gender studies, she realized that a healthcare career was more in line with her desire to serve her community.
After graduating with her BS in Nursing from CU’s College of Nursing in 2013, Josi began working at University of Colorado Hospital as an RN in Mother and Baby care and in low and high-risk Labor and Delivery. Josi completed her MS in Midwifery in 2019 through CU’s College of Nursing and has been a midwife with Center for Midwifery (CFM) since 2020.
She has worked with birthing people and their families through their pregnancies, labor and postpartum journey since 2013. She is passionate about supporting physiologic birth and individualizing care for each family. For her, this means supporting our clients’ health inside and outside pregnancy, encouraging trust in the process of normal birth, and assisting them with their sexual, reproductive, and health goals outside of pregnancy.
Outside of work, Josi enjoys spending time with her spouse, Rodney, and two spirited daughters (the younger of which was a CFM baby) and large extended family. She loves running, reading, and cooking.
