Jennifer Dailey-Vail, RN, WHNP-BC, DNP is an Assistant Professor at the College of Nursing and Strategic and Quality Advisor at Denver Indian Health and Family Services. She is a Nurse Practitioner, nurse educator, clinic administrator, and quality expert. In all of these roles, she focuses on initiatives to enhance student, staff, and population based clinical outcomes.

Nurse Practitioner. Dr. Dailey-Vail’s clinical areas of expertise are family planning services and population-based quality improvement.

Nurse Educator. Dr. Dailey-Vail teaches undergraduate and graduate nursing students in the areas of women’s care, population-based care, and quality improvement. Additionally, she is an affiliated faculty member of the University of Colorado Center for Global Health and a founding member of Global Nursing Education Initiatives at the College of Nursing. Every year, she leads a group of graduate students to Ecuador for a two-week women’s health clinical rotation, which she developed from concept through implementation.

Clinic Administrator. In her administrative capacities, Dr. Dailey-Vail has worked with individual practices and local/state health departments in over 20 states to improve access to family planning services. In addition, she has served as Administrator/Director for several family planning clinics and primary care clinics, overseeing not only all clinical activities but also policy and procedures, grants, and personnel. Moreover, she has worked with individual practices to successful pass national audits from the OPA, HRSA, and NCQA. For example, while serving as Clinical Director at Sheridan Health Services, a nurse-managed Federally Qualified Health Center with integrated dental, behavioral health, and substance use disorder services, she led the clinical and quality components of the Bureau of Primary Care Operational Site Visit (OSV) and the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) application with NCQA. The OSV resulted in a perfect score, meeting all 19 program requirements, and the PCMH application resulted in national recognition as a Level 2 PCMH practice.

Quality Expert. Dr. Dailey-Vail currently serves as Co-Investigator and Implementation Advisor on the Invested in Diabetes research project, a cluster-randomized, pragmatic comparative effectiveness trial of two shared medical appointment models using an evidence-based diabetes self-management curriculum across 22 practices. She is also the Nursing Representative on the Partnership in Education Training and Research Advancement consortium project for Zimbabwean Health Science Centers, in conjunction with the CU School of Medicine. In this capacity, she works with individual practices and 4 health sciences universities in Zimbabwe to facilitate/teach interprofessional education, collaborative practice, and dissemination and implementation science.
