Kelly joined the College of Nursing in 2014 as an assistant professor. She taught clinical courses in her early years at the college, then moved on to didactic courses. Her clinical forte is Gerontology, where she has practiced for over 10 years as a GNP. She now teaches the undergraduate course, Nursing Care of the older adult as the course lead. She is also involved in the Adult Gero Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Program, and is course lead for the Diagnosis and Management Course and participates in clinical oversight. Her research interests are focused on older adults, and how to shift nursing student attitudes toward them. She is passionate about improving the care and outcomes for the older adult population. She currently practices in the UCHealth Senior's Clinic as a nurse practitioner.

Henrichs is involved in service activities inside and outside of the college including Sigma Theta Tau, Colorado Nurses Association (Board member), the Age Friendly University Task Force, the National Hartford Center of Gerontological Nursing Excellence, the Gerontological Advanced Practice Nursing Association and the Undergraduate Curriculum and Evaluation Committee (member).
