Kim Paxton, DNP, APRN, ANP-BC, LHIT-C is an assistant professor of nursing at the University of Colorado College of Nursing. She earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) along with a Leadership in Health Informational Technology Certificate (LHIT-C) from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities in 2012 and her MSN as an Adult Nurse Practitioner from Marquette University Milwaukee WI in 1999. Dr. Paxton is an ANCC board certified adult nurse practitioner and advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) with a practice focus on health promotion and prevention.

Dr. Paxton has been involved in academic nursing education for over 15 years, working as a course coordinator and curriculum designer for baccalaureate, master’s and doctoral nursing education. Her academic passion lies in translating current theoretical research of health promotion into practice. Dr. Paxton began researching and addressing inter-professional health promotion strategies during her doctoral education and continues to explore, develop and disseminate inter-professional educational (IPE) health promotional strategies to enhance nursing education and professional nursing practice. Dr. Paxton has presented nationally and regionally on IPE strategies, technology and exercise integration for health promotion. Dr. Paxton has over 18 years’ experience in educating and designing patient focused plans of care to address health promotion in adults and optimizing the health of those living with chronic disease processes.
